Do I have to be baptized to be saved? Am I a Christian even if I’m having sex with my girlfriend? To me these questions are tragic because they reveal the state of the heart. They demonstrate our concern is more about going to heaven then pleasing our King.”

I just did a little test with something called ‘anamorphic typography’. Essentially, it is an illusion where the type looks just right when viewed from the exact right spot, but it looks stretched and warped when viewed from elsewhere in the room. We might be doing something similar in a HOLLY HUNT showrooms later this year, so I did this in a room above my parents’ garage to make sure I could pull it off when the time comes. For what it is worth, I certainly didn’t invent this sort of thing, and I’d like to give lots of credit to this project by Joseph Egan and Hunter Thompson for tipping me off to the idea, as well as the artist Felice Varini, who is doing this sort of thing on a much larger and much more impressive scale.

Hebrews 12:5-17

“…and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by Him; for those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives.” It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom the father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them l shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness. All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful, yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears.”

People don’t want to be disciplined. I know that I don’t particularly enjoy it, for sure. I don’t want to be reproved, rebuked, corrected… so that I can stand up straight. I don’t want straight path for my feet and a limb which is lame to be healed. I’d rather be a cripple than to learn how to walk many times.. figuratively speaking because it’s painful and tough. God disciplines because He loves. He desires for us to come out like gold, being trained by it so that we’d not be lacking in anything… learning the art of contentment. If I do not want to be disciplined, I will end up like Esau who sold his birthright for a single meal.. instant gratification, like a fool.
